Hey all! I’m studying abroad in Canberra, Australia at Australian National University. I’m normally a forest sciences student at Penn State, and I chose ANU because it is one of the few schools that has a forestry program in English. I am terrible at learning new languages, and even worse at speaking them (every time I try to speak my pidgin Spanish, it comes out with a strange half-Chinese accent that almost no one can comprehend), so it’s nice that I’ll only have to learn Australian slang.
I love being outside, especially climbing, running, backpacking, snorkeling, and kayaking, so I hope I’ll get to do at least a few of those things while I’m studying Down Under. I do have a nasty track record of sacrificing academics for adventures (during which I learn a lot, just not necessarily the stuff I was studying in class), but I’m really going to try and have an adventurous semester WHILE studying. We’ll see.
